Mill Creek Station is a 1,470 MW coal-fired power station is the largest owned and operated by Louisville Gas and Electric Company (E.ON) southwest Jefferson County in Louisville, Kentucky on the Ohio River.

There are serious problems posed by toxic coal ash – a by product of coal-fired power production. Toxic heavy metals including mercury, cadmium, arsenic and lead are consistently found at levels well above what is considered safe for drinking water. The data shows that this toxic coal ash pollution is flowing into nearby communities, polluting private drinking water wells and even putting some public water supply wells at risk. Coal ash is hazardous, but less strictly controlled than household garbage. EPA must adopt enforceable federal safeguards, not suggested guidelines for states, to protect our communities.
